The Access Centre strives to identify and take action around issues of concern for students with disabilities by providing advocacy, social networks, and education. This is done by creating space for the discussion of all types of disability, providing tangible resources for the advancements of persons with disabilities, and acknowledging that living with a disability is a valid social location and political identity.

Indigenous Students Association at York (ISAY)

Indigenous Students’ Association is a York Federation of Students funded community service group. ISAY’s primary mandate is to advocate for the Indigenous student body of York University. ISAY’s mandate includes, but is not limited to: community awareness campaigns, cultural programming, social events and alliance building.

York United Black Students’ Alliance (YUBSA)

The York United Black Students’ Alliance’s mission is to provide services that will foster the Self-empowerment of students of African decent academically, financially, and socially on the York University Campus; as a politically motivated association, YUBSA embodies a mandate to fight racial discrimination and systemic racism on the York campus as well as the wider York community.

Trans, Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Asexual at York (TBLGAY)

TBLGAY is a student-run organization that offers community referrals, a resource library, and a drop-in space where queer, trans and asexual students and community members can go to hang out and make new friends in the community. Funded by the York Federation of Students, TBLGAY offers resources and support for the LGBTQ+/queer, trans and asexual community in and around York University.

United South Asians at York (USAY)

USAY serves the South Asian Undergraduate student body, and runs multiple events like our Annual Pub Night, Free Food Services, Bursaries and more! They unite and organize the various South Asian student clubs/organizations and individuals on campus and represent South Asian students’ interests at York University. USAY aims to work within an anti-oppressive framework providing a ground for cultural identity discourses that relate to a South Asian diasporic experience.

Excalibur is the student-run community newspaper of York University. Autonomous from any university body since 1966, Excalibur continues a tradition of publishing articles, photos, and other media as York’s primary source of information. The newspaper boasts an audience of over 60,000 students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. As an institution at York University for over 50 years, Excalibur‘s alumni can be found in all corners of the media industry.

Ontario Public Interest Research Group York

The Ontario Public Interest Research Group is a student funded, student run, nonpartisan organization on campus that conducts research, advocacy, organizing, lobbying, as well as educational and media campaigns. Over the years OPIRG York has stood at the forefront of social justice mobilization at York University, operating a dynamic space that acts as one of the main activist hubs on campus. OPIRG York is a bastion of creativity, passion and idealism.

The York Federation of Students is your central undergraduate students’ union representing over 50,000 members. It is the official student union representing undergraduate students at York University. They advocate for students rights and interests at the university and federal levels. They provide essential services, programming and student led initiatives for student life. Overall, the YFS works to create a more affordable, inclusive, and engaging university experience for all York University students.
