MISSION STATEMENT


Mission Statement

The York University Student Centre is dedicated to enhancing the quality of student and community life on campus by providing a dynamic, central, multi-purpose facility and by facilitating effective, relevant services, resources, events and commercial activities.


Vision Statement

The York University Student Centre will be at the forefront of facilitating student life by expanding our building and our services, dramatically growing our businesses, and more thoroughly integrating ourselves into the University community. Through transparency, effective communication, prudent management, and a commitment to planning, our operations will be seen as an exceptional benefit to the York community.


Value Statements

        We are dedicated to and accountable for:

  • Effective, interactive, and transparent communication with our stakeholders including students, the Board of Directors, student organizations, staff, faculty, clients, alumni, tenants, York University, and suppliers to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the work we do and the role we play.
  • Providing a safe space on campus for all students and stakeholders.
  • Reflecting, representing, embracing, and serving the diversity of York students and community without prejudice (as enumerated in the Ontario Human Rights Code).
  • Ethical partnerships with our stakeholders.
  • Collaborative relationships with both student’s unions, the York Federation of Students and the Graduate Students Association; college councils; student run organizations and York departments, to ensure, in part, their effective contributions to our visioning and planning processes.
  • Initiative and leadership for Quality Service.
  • Developing and facilitating leadership throughout the organization and amongst our stakeholders and regional/national associations.
  • Teamwork, including timely decision-making and problem solving, throughout the Organization
  • Regular, consistent, and high quality training, development, and recognition for staff, Board members, and volunteers.
  • Innovation in service, products, and operations in order to meet our stakeholders’ needs, to anticipate change, and to respond proactively.
  • Meeting or exceeding our budgetary commitments without compromising our commitment to enhancing student and community life.
  • A clean, well-maintained building, reflecting pride in ownership and operation.
  • Reviewing, revising, implementing and achieving our mission, vision, values, and goals.
